After battling a fire on Second Avenue on Monday, some Secaucus firefighters went on to rescue a seagull that was trapped in a wooden piling on the Hackensack River, according to The Jersey Journal.
Two firefighters – captain Bill Heaney and lieutenant Larry Marciano – joined on Dennis Earle of Secaucus Animal Control on a boat to free the bird, which had caught its leg in the split top of the wood.
After getting freed, the bird drank some water and flew off, without even thanking the trio. Birds are jerks.
