Secaucus recently acquired a fire boat from North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue in exchange for a pair of fire trucks.

As first reported in The Hudson Reporter, Secaucus received a 1988 model 32-foot Monarch fire boat and gave up a 1988 rescue truck and a 1994 tower ladder truck.

The new vessel will help the town cover the Hackensack River and will be docked at the Coast Guard marina in Secaucus. According to Secaucus mayor Michael Gonnelli, “We never had a boat in the water 24/7.”

North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue is a joint fire department covering North Bergen, Union City, West New York, Weehawken and Guttenberg.
